The first Sunday after Labor Day is National Grandparents Day. This year, send flowers to your grandparents to let them know you think they are really grand. Read more
Our bouquets are all hand-arranged and delivered right to their door, so they're the perfect gift for a long-distance grandma and grandpa! If your grandad or nana is elderly and lives in a retirement village or nursing home, take all four generations of the family; children, grandchildren and the great-grandkids, to visit with them.
Gift your grandmother and grandfather with a fragrant bouquet of fresh flowers!
They have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Grandparents play so many roles within the family dynamic, including family historian/living ancestor, the nurturer, the mentor, the role model, the playmate, the wizard, and the hero. Maybe they serve as the babysitter, the chauffeur, the confidante, or the caregiver. The stereotype of an aged, ailing, bald or grey-haired, retired, denture wearing grandparent is out of step with reality. Many grandparents are in their forties, fifties and sixties and still in the workforce and leading active lives. Many offer financial and emotional support for their children and act as a surrogate parent. Whatever their age and role in your life, there's bound to be something that's just right for your Grandparents Day gift. Whether it's a traditional bouquet of roses, or something kind of colorful and jazzy, you're sure to find something that will be a perfect fit for your grandparents. (And for your wallet.)
Send a long-lasting plant to a grandparent with a green thumb
Did you inherit a green thumb from your grandparents? They'd appreciate a Grandparents Day gift like a plant or a basket of beautiful African violets. Of course, grandparents always love anything that will always remind them of you, so you might want to opt for colorful flowers that arrive in a keepsake vase or reusable mug. When you order flowers for your grandmother/grand father, they will be personally delivered by a florist, fresh and ready to be enjoyed immediately. Sending flowers for Grandparents Day would mean the world to the people who've always thought the world of you.
History of Grandparents Day
National Grandparents Day originated with Marian McQuade from West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She also hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
